My Father, the one legged man.

by: Chandra on Thu, May 17 2007

Well, pretty much throughout my entire life i have known my father to be a one legged man. He battled on the operating table three times, and went into a ‘hyper-baric’ chamber so that his severed leg, which was yet to be operated on, would recieve a decent amount of oxygen.

This did not work so amputation was necessary for survival. This all happened before i was born mind you, so my memory of what happened during all of this is, does not exist.

However, for someone who has lived with a man for nearly eighteen years of her life let me tell you a couple of tips:

* NEVER make them feel as though they can’t do anything
*NEVER doubt them for a second of what they are capable of
*LET them do what they think is best for themselves

AND

*IF they want to be a unique individual? Let them be that.

Thank you for reading my story
