Don’t be afraid! Show those toes.

I never realized I had “abnormal toes” until I went swiming one day and my older cousin asked, “What is wrong with your toes?” I was only nine years old. I checked all of my family members toes, until I found my aunt. The difference between us was that she was confident and didn’t care.

In high school I never wore flip flops. When I got to college I figured it wasn’t a big deal…atleast I have toes. Right? One day at the super market a lady stoped me along with her daughter and told me that her nine year old daughter “has her toes just like yours.” This girl was ashamed of her toes and never showed them.I am 22 years old and continue wearing flipflops, I live in Southern California.

Yeah people stare all the time and it is ANNOYING, but I always have my toes done. From that day on I show off my toes. So go get a pedicure and a pair of cute sandals and expose those toes. Maybe when we all show our toes people won’t be so amazed.

Yeah, I thought of having surgery, but I heard its a pain. Its not like my funky toes hurt or prevent me from doing anything.

The other day I took my mother to the podiatrist to have her normal toes trimmed. In the 47 years of my life, I had NEVER visited a podiatrist…EVER. Since I discovered my Brachy at around 9 years of age, you would think I would have made at least one visit by now. But I was too ashamed to see a doctor, as I thought it was an unexplainable freak of nature. [more..]

  • Funny Toe - by Camille - (Sun, Aug 10 2008)
Hi all, Wow I never really knew that there was a name for this! I had a physical one year and my doctor noted my toe and mentioned what it was but I didn’t think much of it. Today I had some free time and was just curious to see if I could find out what it was called and learn about it. [more..]
