want surgery
by: tired of the short toe want to wear sandals on Wed, Aug 13 2008

i am 29 years old and i have the short toe on my left foot. it sits on top of my foot. my right foot looks funny as well, all four toes are very short and then i have a fat big toe. there is about this much room——— between my big toe and the one after.

so even after i might have surgery on the left foot my feet will still look strange. even with surgery i do not think it would make a difference because the fourth toe is very short, it looks like a babys toe. it makes the other toes look funny as well, without the fourth toe being in the correct spot my third toe leans to the left alot leaving a huge gap between the third and second toe.

this has been a real problem for me personally, mentally and physically. when i buy/get shoes the short toe always gets caught on something and pulls itself back, thus make a split underneath the toe. or even if i wear closed high heels is always wants to stick out on top of the shoes.

now that i know you can have surgery for it, i want the surgery, but i do not want to take months off from work. i have heard of people walking on the foot after one week so maybe thats an option.

Since I discovered my Brachy at around 9 years of age, you would think I would have made at least one visit by now. But I was too ashamed to see a doctor, as I thought it was an unexplainable freak of nature. [more..]

  • Don’t be afraid! Show those toes. - by Barbara - (Mon, Aug 11 2008)
I never realized I had “abnormal toes” until I went swiming one day and my older cousin asked, “What is wrong with your toes?” I was only nine years old. I checked all of my family members toes, until I found my aunt. The difference between us was that she was confident and didn’t care. [more..]
  • Funny Toe - by Camille - (Sun, Aug 10 2008)
Hi all, Wow I never really knew that there was a name for this! I had a physical one year and my doctor noted my toe and mentioned what it was but I didn’t think much of it. Today I had some free time and was just curious to see if I could find out what it was called and learn about it. [more..]
