To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download charko [charcot] foot My husband started with discomfort and swelling, thought he had gout. then an x-ray was done, dx :charko [charcot] it was then suggested to stay off his foot for 8-12 wks, at which time he did not take seriously, he is now out of work for 8 mths now, with no disability, and has just had his 5th surgery. reconstruction of his foot, with a fixation device. the device failed 4wks out. then a cast was put on, several infections and a walking boot. and many surgeries removing pins and screws that kept causing ulcers yesterday was another big surgery, now being held by wire. and hoping for no more infections. bottom line. your podiatrist should be prescribing pain meds and discussing the pro’s and cons. and the possiblities of surgery. not just placing you in special shoes. this is not to be taken lightly…….
