post op and worse off

by: Michael on Mon, Mar 24 2008

I’m 5 days post op from neuroma amputation between 3 & 4. I expected to be sore from the incision, but not from the nerve. The incision does not bother me in the least. I am now hypersensitive to the nerve (or stump?). I cannot stand on my foot without a zinger all the way to the end of my 3rd toe. Doc says the nerve in my toe will die later. It is numb so not sure what that means. When I do stand lightly on my foot, it feels like I’m standing on a pencil. I can only touch the ball of my foot (not massage it). I’m very scared that I have taken an annoying and uncomfortable situation and made it 10 times worse by having surgery. My Pod says I don’t need crutches, but I still can’t put pressure on it after 5 days so I’m off to rent a pair.
