Morton’s Neuromas

by: Millie on Wed, May 14 2008

I was diagnosed with 2 neuromas on my right foot after suffering with pain, numbness, tingling, and not being able to wear high heels, or walk without pain. Had two cortisone shots which were very painful, but did not help. Got second opinion, after MRI was diagonosed with 2 neuomas on right and 2 on left. Dr. used alcohol injections to deaden nerves. Had 4 injections monthly for 14 months before surgery on right foot in Dec. 2007. My surgery was on bottom, and the scar tissue is so bad that now I feel like I’m walking on a twig. Worse pain, burning, tingling now than before surgery as well as numbness in two toes since surgery.

Decided I cant live with this pain, went to Dr. specializing in crysurgery (freezing) the nerve. Was told that all of the alcohol injections completely killed all of my fat of my forefeet, that is why it is so difficult to walk and that I still had the 2 neuromas that supposedly were cut out. I am scheduled now for crysurgery at the end of May, but I am very scared that this will cause more numbness. Had I been advised of the complications of surgery and so many alcohol injections, I would not have had the injections or the surgery. I hope that this helps other people out there who suffer from the same thing. I have lived with this pain for 3 years which has caused depression weight gain and inactivity.
