To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download RSD early diagnosis I had a very bad break to my right wrist and developed what I learned is RSD or complex regional pain syndrome. I was fortunate enough to get an early diagnosis that allowed me to research on the internet to find something that would help me. After several months my pain was very much reduced, I take only one anti-inflammatory per day, more when needed; the colour of my hand is returned to more normal; the severe swelling has more or less gone. I think the early diagnosis was really key - but none of the doctors I saw during my treatment diagnosed it - I was fortunate enough to be seeing a natural therapist who told me what I was dealing with. In case it might be of use to others, these are the things that I found helpful: - doing the exercises prescribed to me, no matter that it was painful; i kept focused and would put both hands through the same exercises when feasible - helped take my mind off the one that was painful ! I also visualised the full range of motion I was aiming for - continuously moving my hand and fingers throughout the day no matter what i was doing, not just at the time i was doing the prescribed exercises. this prevented my fingers from seizing up further and helped reduce the swelling - CASTOR OIL ‘PACK’ - this was highly beneficial in the early stages of helping to clear up the severe swelling. basically you soak a piece of cloth in castor oil, warm it, put it around the affected area, cover it with plastic wrap and apply heat (eg. hot water bottle or heating pad). I used to sit with this for one or two hours each evening for amazing results. you can find all kinds of information on the internet on the benefits of castor oil packs - a homeopathic anti-inflammatory cream that i got from the health food store - often used by people with arthritis, it helped reduce pain - st john’s wort oil that i used to massage my hand and fingers, holding up my hand while massaging down from the tip of the fingers - alternating putting my hand in the double kitchen sink, one filled with hot and one with cold water I still have a ways to go, but I don’t sit at my desk crying with pain any more, and my hand looks more or less normal - so that’s big progress ! Good luck to everyone suffering this terrible pain. Comments
