To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Sesamoidectomy About 6 months ago I had a callous on the ball of my foot just below the big toe. I was unable to get rid of it with over the counter remedies so went to the doctor. He said I would need a sesamoidectomy. I had the operation 6 weeks ago. After 3 weeks of complete rest wearing a boot only if I had to walk to another room etc. I had the stitches removed. I wore the boot for another 2 weeks and then the doctor told me I was able to walk on it. I was surprised to find there was no real pain associated with my walking just a little sore and stiff. It has been 2 weeks now since I have been walking in normal shoes but my ankle and halfway up my leg is very swollen. I called the doctor to advise him of this and he said it was normal. He said to expect swelling for at least 6 - 8 months and then it may return up to about one year. My actual foot is not at all painful. Comments
