To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download sesamoiditis recovery I had some pain the sesamoids on my left foot after a 5K race I ran that had a lot of tight turns that I took fast. I didnt have access to a knowledgable doctor, and self diagnosed myself through reading about it on the internet and in books. I tried making a pad with a cutout under the sesamiods to tape to my foot, and it immediately took the pain away when walking around. After wearing it for a few weeks (without running on it) It felt better so I took it off and started some light running. The pain came back slightly, so I layed off the running and did some swimming instead. The pad started to make my foot ache around where the pad was, so I alternated days with it on and days with it off. After 2 months the pain is gone, even for runs up to 4 miles. I still wear the pad most days unless my foot aches. I havnt gone back to my pre-injury intensity yet for fear of aggrivating it again, but plan to in a month or so. I think the fast turns injured it, and will be more carefull next time. I also would buy a shoe insert and cut out a hole for the sesamoids instead of making a pad to tape to my foot, as this caused aching over time. Comments
